- Plan to take at least one EM clerkship EARLY in the 4th year so it makes it on your transcript for residency applications
- Try for honors in every clerkship possible. Much more important than grades in years 1 & 2
- Consider a Clerkship with an STD Clinic Component (practice with difficult H&P's, lots of genital exam experience)
- Dermatology clerkship useful
- Do your Pediatrics rotation where there is a peds ER to cover
- Take Family Medicine in a rural area where you get to cover the ED and do your own procedures
- Burns rotation (good tissue and wound care skills education)
- INTERNATIONAL trauma rotations! Some require an application a year in advance, so start early!
- Do some fun things! (Almost everything falls under the umbrella of Emergency Medicine)
